On This Day 1612 The Trial of the Pendle Witches began. Twelve people (2 Men and 10 Women) were accused of causing the deaths of 10 people by Witchcraft. All of the accused lived in the Pendle Hill area in Lancashire and were tried at Lancashire assizes. It is the most famous and well documented witchcraft trial in English history.
