On This Day: African American Life in Detroit in 1960: Common Council member William T. Patrick, Jr. leads a fight to hold up approval of Phase I of the proposed $100 million Medical Center project after calls, letters and telegrams from those who charge that the city’s three hospitals have practiced racial discrimination.
