On This Day in Spurs History - July 25th 2010 - Robbie Keane scored one and set up another as Tottenham completed their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. The Republic of Ireland striker opened the scoring with a fine finish in the 23rd minute. He latched on to Niko Kranjcars through-ball and slotted home. The lead lasted for just two minutes, however, before the Chile international Matías Fernández headed home the equaliser. Jaime Valdes made it 2-1 for the Portuguese side three minutes into the second half by firing past David Button, who had replaced Carlo Cudicini at the break. The Spurs substitute Jonathan Obika squeezed a shot past the Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patricio in the 70th minute from Keanes pass to get the north London side back on level terms, and neither team could force a winner in the remaining 20 minutes. The draw gave the Barclays New York Challenge trophy to Sporting who had beaten Manchester City in their first match.
