On Thursday (9/11), Chris had an appointment with Radiology for a Barium swallow study. I met him there and we signed in at admission, he was alert, and watched his surroundings, but was quiet. We went to Radiology to check in for his appointment, and while we were in the waiting room he started talking. One of the chaplains met us there, and she was so impressed with Chriss progress. She was the one who met him in the ER back in March and has been so helpful to me since. When we were called back, Chris didnt talk as much, but would still answer questions in the X-ray room. He did everything they asked, and seemed to do well. He didnt talk after the test was done for the rest of the day, but he remained alert and would nod appropriately when asked questions. After the test we went up to the burn unit to see everyone and I was able to chat with the PA for a while about upcoming surgeries to be done. We also went to the pastoral services office to give everyone there a visit. After that we went to the Cafeteria (since he said yes when the chaplain asked if he wanted to go there), and Chris did very well watching. We ran into some friends of mine whose mother was admitted, and we chatted. He was engaged in the conversation even though people were walking by us. After that we went to sit by one of the exits for the rehab van. Chris did so well, even with the large amounts of stimulation for several hours. I have not heard of the results yet, but am hoping to on Monday.
