On Thursday, 9/25/14, the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office received several complaints regarding fraudulent phone calls. The callers claimed to be members of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office and advised the individual that there was a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty. The callers went on to require the individual to pay $1500 to prevent their arrest on the warrant. The callers spoke broken English and were very aggressive and threatening on the phone. The callers did have the individual’s name and address and did use the name of a member of the Sheriff’s Office. These calls are fraudulent. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office would never require payment over the phone for a warrant or ask for any personal information (e.g. social security number, banking information, etc.). If you have any question about the true identity of individual representing themselves as a law enforcement official, you should contact the agency directly using a published listing. Do not make any payments or provide any personal information over the phone. If you receive a call of this nature please report it to your local law enforcement agency.
