On Thursday I return to work at my volunteer job at the Closter Borough Hall. Weather will be cooling down to temps right around 80 degrees tomorrow. Congratulations go out tonight Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw who has thrown a no-hitter tonight against the Colorado Rockies in the Dodgers 8-0 win tonight. Clayton Kershaw pitched 107 pitches, 79 for strikes. He did not walk a batter and he struck out 15 batters. In the Top of the 7th, Clayton Kershaw lost his perfect game bid when Corey Dickerson reached base at second on a throwing error by Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez. Clayton Kershaw has thrown the 22nd no hitter is Dodgers franchise history. On May 25th, this season, Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett threw a no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia. Prior to Josh Beckett, the Dodgers last no-hitter came on September 17, 1996 when Hideo Nomo threw a no-hitter against the Rockies in Colorado. Boston Red Sox pitcher Brandon Workman lost his appeal on a 6 game suspension for throwing behind and near the head of Rays third baseman Evan Longoria on May 30th. In the same game, Rays pitcher David Price hit David Ortiz and Mike Carp and was not ejected nor given a suspension, just a fine. Brandon Workman started serving his suspension on Wednesday. Workman will miss his scheduled start on Friday. Workman is next eligible to pitch for the Red Sox on June 24th. This was the 22nd no-hitter in Dodgers franchise history, the most no-hitters in MLB history. Kershaw struck out 15 batters in his no-hitter Wednesday. The amazing part of his performance is that he would have had a perfect game, if not for one play in the 7th inning when Corey Dickerson reached base at second base on a throwing error by Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez. That was the only blemish on the night for Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers in a 8-0 victory.
