On Thursday, January 29, we have a special guest as our seminar speaker. Warnell alum Dr. Chelcy Ford Miniat is the research project leader for the U.S. Forest Service, Coweeta Hydrologic Lab in Otto, N.C. The Coweeta Hydrologic Lab is an NSF Long Term Ecological Research Site that focuses on watershed manipulations and other large-scale manipulative experiments in southern Appalachian forests. Dr. Miniat’s talk will include an overview of the Coweeta research, with a focus on forest hydrology and ecosystem effects of the exotic hemlock woolly adelgid. The title of her talk is “Tree Water Use: Consequences of Species Compositional Changes on Forest Water Yield.” The talk will be at 4 p.m. in room 1-304 with refreshments beforehand. All are invited.
