On Triumphalism: Triumphalism is the attitude or belief that a particular doctrine, religion, culture, or social system is superior to and should triumph over all others. Triumphalist: A triumphalist may derive a sense of pride, security, or virtue, from their sense of superiority and expectation of ultimate triumph. Dangers of Triumphalism: * Impaired ability to judge the value or morality of groups actions; ( we can cite the example of the demand for partition on the basis of homeland for only Muslims in a society of many communities) * Cessation of creativity and innovation within the group; * Blind to other groups strengths and innovations; ( there have been four wars between India and Pakistan; all these have been at Pakistans initiative. Every war was the result of inflated sense of power, which ultimately proved unreal) * A tendency to over-reach against the groups competitors, based on an inflated sense of the likelihood of triumph in conflict; ( 1965 war by Pakistan with the idea that Hindus would not stand few blows and flee before the Pakistani onslaught) * Provides impetus to proselytization, conquest, and general expansion of a group or a doctrine. Examples: Islamic conquests of the 7th century and colonialism.
