On Tuesday, I graduate from Peer Support Specialist Training for Sonoma County. Im certified! Some of you knew that already. Happy day for me! I am a little perplexed though. I didnt go to my high school graduation, or any dances or football games or any of that participation stuff. I was a hippie/musician/stoner and didnt think much of the establishment. But since then I have occasionally wondered what I missed, and even been a little envious of people who still have groups of caring friends from way back then. Even though this is really not a big deal -there will be no hats/robes, no microphones, no beach balls, only a small adoring crowd-its important to me because I decided, what the heck, I oughta graduate from something! Meanwhile, I start an Internship at the Wellness and Advocacy Center tomorrow. Why wait? Imbued with significance, I approach these days with wonderment and a little anxiety. Thats cool.
