On Tuesday, November 5th at 7pm our friends from the Burmese Cultural Center will be speaking at the Marshall High School Library. AAUW (American Association of University Women) will be hosting the event. It is a goal of Marshall AAUW over the next year to focus on cultural connections in our local area. Martha Thawnghmung who is the director of the Burma Center will be giving a talk on Burmese culture, the political situation and the refugee experience in America. She will be bringing Burmese students to discuss their transition and new life experiences in the US. For any of the chapter friends who missed this presentation at my house this is a chance to learn about the outreach work they are doing and to hear their amazing life stories. There will be delicious Burmese food as well!
