On Tuesday, Sept 16th 2014, fifty or so people testified before the Texas State Board of Education. They included Native Americans, Latinos, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, atheists, and even secular Christians. Most of them complained that their respective demographics were being eliminated or insulted by history texts, books which seem determined to promote another agenda. In most instances, that agenda was a clearly biased promotion of white, right-wing Judeo-Christian conservative propaganda. Ethnic groups were overlooked or misrepresented, and America was reported to have been founded on the ten commandments, as if Moses were a real person, and the author of the Pentateuch. A number of historians, including Christians, criticized the books for this and other errors. It may be hard for Europeans to believe that American education can be this bad; just listen to the testimonies for yourself. As you do, bear in mind that the publishers made these changes on their own accord. Notice also how the SBoE complains about informative watch-dog groups like the Texas Freedom Network. https://youtube/watch?v=RylrkgvtcZY
