On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, I will be celebrating 10 YEARS OF FREEDOM after serving 13+ years of incarceration in the State of Michigan (prisons) for shoplifting- a pair of gym shoes and a set of king sized bed sheets. I want to thank God and all the wonderful people that I have been blessed to meet during the transition back into the community, including but not limited to all the positive role models and mentors that continue to work behind the scene to mentor, motivate, encourage and inspire me to “make better decisions, stay crime free” and to be the best that I can be. I am a member of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in the City of Detroit where Reverend Dr. Charles G. Adams and Reverend Christian C. Adams teaches us “to put God first” and how to live life; to love God and one another as taught in the Bible. Hartford Church adopted me while I was still in prison. On Wednesday, October 6, 2004, Dr. Adams prayed with me over the phone; that God would give me a second chance and to use me as an instrument to assist others… After the prayer, Dr. Adams told me that, “If I had arrived to my appointment at America Works of Detroit on time, .i.e. at 11:00am on Thursday, October 7, 2004, that God was going to meet me there!” I showed up on time and God met me there in a big way. I will tell the rest of my testimony at an event that is being planned. I may also facilitate an employability and job readiness training workshop for people with criminal records and/or who are soon to be released from jail/prison.
