On Tuesday night Linda and I attended a Stafford County Historical Society lecture on the Quantico Marine Corps Base expansion in 1942. Families and businesses were given 2 weeks notice to move. The Government paid only for the land, the dwellings were lost. Take your belongings and get. The only evidence the Howards ever lived there is the Williams-Howard Cemetery. The Marine Corps cuts the grass at our Familys Cemetery. One displaced man said, if the Marines need my land to help defeat the Japanese, they can have it. Another families house is no the DEA Academy. See photos below.
