On Tuesday of this week, Samantha Cameron hosted a reception at 10 Downing Street for ‘charity champions’. I was invited to nominate two guests from my constituency who I considered to be a charity champion to attend a reception in their honour at 10 Downing Street. I was delighted to be able to nominate Father Sam Philpott MBE and Jacky Clift. Father Philpott is a trustee of Plymouth Drake Foundation, Chair of our Community Committee and was previously Parish Priest of St Peter Wyndham which serves much of the Stonehouse area of Plymouth. Jacky is involved in Time Banks in Whitleigh and Stonehouse along with the Plymouth Octopus Project to help community groups. I hope that this can act as some little recognition for a pair who have put a lot of excellent work into their community.
