On Veteran’s Day, I am sure some will argue; “why celebrate war and all of is gory glory?” While some societies in history relished war and are termed “warlike”, we Americans do not relished and hope for war, rather, we understand the realities of humanity. We are willing to defend and if war comes stand in the gap to preserve OUR way of LIFE!!!. The cost of preserve this WAY and this LIFE has come at a terrible cost. No mother or father bears a child hoping they go off and die in a foreign land. But thank God there are still families who do bear children who are willing to stand—to do their duty—to freely give so much of themselves so that no SOB will ever take an eraser and wipe out OUR NAME off the “whiteboard” of nations. Since I have been deployed to Afghanistan 45 US and coalition soldiers have died in various hostile and non-hostile events. According to the open source: icasualties.org they represent: -1 NATO member -1 Polish Army -2 Romanian Army -2 British Army - 1 US Air Force -2 US Navy -2 US Marine -34 US Army And while there will unfortunately be more added to this list the ugly facts are 3395 US and coalition souls have given their precious blood for peace and freedom while performing their duties during Operation Enduring Freedom: - Albania: 1 - Australia: 40 - Belgium: 1 - Canada: 158 - Czech Republic: 5 - Denmark: 43 - Estonia: 9 - Finland: 2 - France: 86 - Georgia: 27 - Germany: 54 - Hungary: 7 - Italy: 48 - Jordan: 2 - Latvia: 3 - Lithuania: 1 - NATO (ID yet to be release): 10 - Netherlands: 25 - New Zealand: 11 - Norway: 10 - Poland: 38 - Portugal: 2 - Slovakia: 1 - South Korea: 1 - Spain: 34 - Sweden: 5 - Turkey: 14 - United Kingdom: 446 - United States: 2290
