On Wed my precious 7 month old Sadie Mae left my arms and walked - TopicsExpress

On Wed my precious 7 month old Sadie Mae left my arms and walked over the Rainbow Bridge. 6 short weeks ago while attempting be spayed, she was diagnosed with a genetic liver disorder. Her tummy filled with fluid and the protein she ate wasnt absorbed. They ran tests and even $7K surgery wouldnt guarantee her life so we took it day by day. She was happy, active and had an insatiable appetite. Sadie Mae loved to go outside by our pool and chase salamanders and frogs. I was sure eating them was what had caused her illness but the doctors assured me that it was nothing we had done. We got her from an ad in Miami. After Eva passed at Thanksgiving, we rescued Stella a pit mix puppy who unfortunately lockjawed on Bismarck our 10 year old dachshund. We had to return her to the Boca shelter and Chas knew I needed a little baby girl to take care of. The ad said she was 10 weeks old and a yellow lab/golden mix but she was about 6 weeks old and definitely has hound in her. She was being fed milk in a little bowl because her Mom wasnt there to nurse her. We brought her home and she grew quickly but her ribs always showed. We thought it was great that Sadie wasnt fat and her trainer said she had Ridgeback in her so we never realized she was sick. She had the softest hair, which didnt shed, golden in color but mottled mixed with white on chest, tummy and tips of her lion like feet. She had black and white toenails like the pads of her feet. Her ears were so soft, too, and flopped down straight or sometimes bunched up, and with those big brown eyes...she melted everyones hearts! She acted like a typical puppy chewing on everything including Bis ears which he tolerated. As she had less energy, she loved to rest by him or on top of him on the sofa. She lived an on the go full life with us even going to baseball game Sat night and dog park and beach on Sun! Sadie Mae was so smart, graduated top of her puppy class. She loved to sit, stay, down, shake, leave it ...all for those pbnanas BilJac treats :) those Sundays I spent with her at Petsmart with Alexis will always be the best forever memories. I think Sadie always knew she was sick. Alexis said when she looked at her, you could still see the whites of her eyes meaning she was protecting me but I think she wanted me there to protect her. And I did! Special meals, so much medicine, extra walks, planned outings for making great memories, waking up through out the night to make sure she was ok, weekly specialist visits for tests or to drain her little tummy. As my Houstons family knows, I would have done anything to keep her with us. But Wed morning I knew, Chas knew, she knew. No more pain, needles, medicine, feeling 12 years old when you are really a 7 month old puppy. I pray you found Lily, Lucy and Eva along with old Bis and my parents and you are chasing after your toys and chewing on treats until your hearts content. I will forever keep you in my heart and am so proud to have been your Mom. I love you forever Sadie Mae xo
