On Wednesday 28th of January (the anniversary of the Government’s announcement in 2013 of the preferred route for HS2 Phase 2) the Joint Action Groups (Colton, Ridwares and Kings Bromley) are holding a symbolic burning of £50 billion in a beacon bonfire! They have been able to secure a site off Stoneyford Lane for the £51 billion bonfire (which ties in with other bonfires along the route of HS2). The fire will be lit at 7.30pm and 51 bags each representing £1 billion will be tossed into the bonfire igniting a beacon of protest that asks: “in this time of austerity wouldn’t it be better spent on the NHS, Education, Police or a transport project that improved all of the nations transport systems?” If you would like to attend please contact the joint action group at ridwaresagainsths2@gmail for up to date details of access to the field. Wellies are essential! For more information go to the Facebook page - Ridwares against HS2
