On Wednesday November 12, 2014 my Sorority Sigma Gamma Rho - TopicsExpress

On Wednesday November 12, 2014 my Sorority Sigma Gamma Rho Incorp!!!!!! (said in my best stepshow voice :-) ) will be celebrating our 9nd year of Excellence, Service and Sisterhood. Last week there was a post asking members to state which soror has been most influential in their Sigma walk. I was unable to respond at that time, but felt it was fitting as our anniversary looms on the horizon that I thank those who have influenced my Sigma growth. First and formost to our illustrious Founders, for w/o them there would be no us; my Dean-Mrs. Nadine Dillanado, our International Grand Basileus-Ms. Bonita Herring and 2 of her ships (Big Sister Vivan Carwell and Big Sister Lucy Bates Jefferson-after all these years I still lovingly refer to them as Big Sister; Soror Joan Wingo, Soror Lynette Littlejohn and Soror Peggy Childress. These women of Delta Sigma Chapter taught me to take care of business first, to think before I act; gave a name(service/ philantrophy) to what I thought was my innate desire to help and by telling/showing the strength of Sigma sistherhood. Next, I would like to thank the Sorors at Florida Memorial College in Miami Gamma Zi chapter (Lorraine Hasford, Charlie, Tasha, Debbie, Celeste, Crystelle) and Leslie Clark at Tuskegee for further showing true Sigma Sisterhood. Thanks to my Plege Mother Esther Harvey and my girl Shawna Singleton-Harrington for being the vanguards when Beta Rho Chapter was re-activated in 1986. Last but not least are my 3 siblings my ship Marsha Allen, Monique Merriweather and Lee Ellen thanks for showing that nothing binds like blood and Sigma Gamma Rho :-) Happy Anniversary To the Beautiful Sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho.
