On a conference call with Wichita County Commissioner Barry Mahler about the BLM issue up on the Red River. He has had meetings with the BLM about the issue of land grabs in our state. He thinks they are trying to act stealthy, but are at least a year or two out from trying something up there. He said at this time we simply need to stay vigilant. There will be another meeting in a few months about what the timeline will be. Congressman Thornberry stated that BLM has nothing in their budget to plan any takeover currently and thinks that it will take a few months at least, but most likely a couple of years from any action. Wichita Sheriff David Duke (seriously) is on the side of Texans in this issue. I specifically asked about having armed Texans show up to oppose any armed response by the BLM and he said this is what the 2nd Amendment is for and he was supportive should the need arise. They did mention that neither Senator Ted Cruz nor Senator John Cornyn have made any statements about the problem.
