On a more serious note, my other confession of the day is that I really dont think Facebook is particularly good for people. (This shouldnt be a surprise. Research has already made it pretty clear it isnt.) It can be a huge source of negativity, deception, lies, misinformation, jealousy, envy, unrealistic expectations, and a huge waste of time (as much of the Internet can be). Not to mention the appalling privacy issues and the unethical means Facebook seeks to make money from page owners by requiring us to pay to reach more than 10 percent of our audience. At this point, the only reason Im still active on Facebook is to try to combat some of those other things. You know my deal. To try to make a positive difference and connecting with people in a meaningful way. And dont get me wrong. I *do * still enjoy Facebook. But my enjoyment comes from the interaction with you all HERE. These days, I stray from here less and less, because when I do, its hard to not to feel the weight of it. And no, I dont plan on jumping ship, because Im here with a purpose (and nearly all my posts make it over to my web site anyway). But I also hope many of you are deliberate with how you use Facebook as I am. I dont want to see you go, but I also dont want you to let your life pass you by because youre here (online) and not really living a meaningful life. Just make sure youre being good to yourself. Living life. And happy when youre here. And thats all I have to say about that (right now). Thanks.
