On a sad note: My college choir director, Dr. David Griggs-Janower (DJ) passed away today. Like so many music teachers before him, that man had a HUGE impact on my life. His passion for excellence taught me unparalleled professionalism and work ethic in performance, in both theater and music, that have done me enormous good. My years in the Chamber Singers were amazing and I will always remember all he did for me. My prayers go out to his wife, his teenaged kids, and all the UAlbany students who must carry on without him. He will be sorely missed. This sad loss reminds me of how important music teachers have been in my life. Ms. Penny Schiek and Mr. Steve Leonard, my life would be sad and empty without music, and that is thanks to you and DJ. I learned passion, the beauty and joy of performance, and most notably: self confidence from your teachings. HAVE YOU THANKED YOUR MUSIC TEACHER TODAY?!!
