On a slightly more serious note, for years now, I have wondered what it would take to get the American people to really understand they have skin in the game when it comes to voting. For the longest time now I really did think that mandatory civil service would get the job done. However, that thought is seriously flawed. You cant force people to be responsible and I will go as far to say that if you dont vote, you are irresponsible. I just finished a rather interesting book that posed a new idea. What if, we leave everything as it is now, only, with the slight change that only people who have served in the military can vote? Many of you might scoff at that or find it silly but at the end of the day, they are the only ones who were willing to risk their own lives and take up a level of responsibility near matching to the power of voting. Everything else would be the same. If you did not join you wouldnt miss out on anything else. Now while this is by no means a perfect system, I have to say that it might be much closer to getting us on the right track.
