On a totally unrelated note, when dealing with people, do you you internally start from the premise that people like you, have regard for you, find that you have merit? Or do you have an unspoken (usually) expectation that the opposite is true? I rarely expect people to actually take me seriously. Deep down, I have a nagging suspicion that all but a handful of people that I know are really just humoring me. On the plus side, its oddly freeing; I can say whatever weird, random, outrageous stuff I like, secure in the knowledge that everyone is just nodding and smiling anyway. On the down side, it is very hard to receive a compliment, or validation of any kind, when Im pretty certain its just pro forma. Please note that this is not anything that anyone is doing. This is entirely from the recesses of my own brain.
