On account of International Vulture Awareness day, a few facts about them... 1. Atleast one type of vulture is found on every continent except Australia and Antartica (of 23 species in the world). 2. Vultures are carnivorous and eat carriom almost exclusively. 3. Vultures have bare heads and often bare necks so that they dont catch any parasital/bacterial infection when they feed on rotting carcass. 4. A group of vultures is called a committee. Unlike other raptors, vultures often feed, fly or roost in large groups. 5. Vultures have weak legs and feet with blunt talons, but have powerful beaks. If a carcass is too stiff for them to open, they often wait till other predators open it up. 6. Vultures have got excellent senses of sight and smell. 7.
