On behalf of NDLON, CARECEN-LA and the United Methodist Church, we want to thank the ~200 participants who attended todays press conference at NVBC Port Hueneme, California to show support for the 500+ Migrant Children being held there. There was a delegation of faith and community based org leaders who were able to enter to monitor conditions and status of children in detention there. Here are some photos of todays events. Overall, law enforcement and navy officers were very cooperative and out of the hundreds of pro-migrant supporters, there were only 4-5 anti-immigrant protestors who tried to agitate the crowd. Once again, the community showed the example of compassion, humanity and love in the face of a cruel immigration system and the hatred being spewed by a handful of anti-immigrant agitators...
