On behalf of all Novocastrians, we grieve the loss of two innocent lives in Sydney- ordinary people caught in a shocking attack that began yesterday. Our first thoughts this morning are with the innocent victims their families and friends of this vicious attack. We have always deeply valued our peaceful, harmonious community and how we react in coming days will show who we are. I wish to acknowledge the NSW Police and all other emergency service workers who have saved many lives over the past days and have risked their lives in providing vital assistance. Our Country is home to people of all backgrounds and faiths living peacefully side by side. That will not change. It will never change. In these darkest of circumstances, let us unite rather than divide. Let us continue to treat our fellow Australians with compassion, decency and respect showing that love, peace and tolerance can overcome. #illridewithyou
