On behalf of the Whittington-Dowell-McKesson family we extend our heart-felt condolences to the immediate family of cousin, Billy Lee Denny, who made his transition on June 13, 2014 in Tennessee. Billy was the s/o Lucy Whittington-Denny-McConniehead; g/s/o Have Whittington; gr/g/s/o William Whittington; gg/g/s/o Lucinda Bly-Whittington and b/o Jackie Carlton. Mr. Billy Lee Denny, age 61, of Mountain City, TN, departed this life on Friday, June 13, 2014 at his home. A visitation and memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Rein-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Mr. Denny was born August 17, 1952 in Caldwell County to Jessie Lee Denny and Lucy Whittington-Denny-McConniehead. He was a devoted worker for Greene Construction Co. in Boone and a devoted NASCAR fan. Bill was a happy and kind-hearted person who enjoyed life and who never met a stranger. He joined the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro at an early age and attended the Mennonite Brethren Church of Boone. Bill was educated in the public schools of Wilkes County. Bill received his elementary education at Woodlawn School and his secondary education at Lincoln Heights School. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jessie Marie Denny-Bailey, a brother, Charles W. McConniehead, Jr. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Mary Denny of Boone; three daughters, Dana Redmon of Stony Point, Christina Fox of Boone, Savannah Denny of Mountain City, TN; two step-daughters, Margaret Cooper and Kimberly Horton, both of Oxford; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends and a special friend, Nancy Brannon; seven sisters, Norma Jean Ferguson and husband, Mote, of Kings Creek, Katie Ann Barber and husband, Floyd, of Wilkes County, Sonnie Gail Brown and husband, William Sr. of Wilkes County, Fonda Kay Barber of Wilkes County, Marcia Shull and husband, Daniel of Boone, Jackie Carlton and husband, Richard, of Wilkes County, Teresa Lea and husband, William of Wilkes County, and one brother, Mark E. Denny and wife, Tracy, of Boone.
