On behalf of the good people of Abia State, God’s own state, a land of great men and women, I want to express my gratitude for the privilege of sharing my vision with you. I am humbled by the enormous support I have continued to receive since I first announced my candidacy for the Governor of Abia State in a little church in Umuahia. It is an indication that this generation will not take “No” for an answer in 2015. I speak for that young man and young woman who has written many job aptitude tests but is still without a job. I speak for that my friend whose university admission is about to be revoked because he cannot pay his school fees. I speak for that poor widow in the village dying in solitude because she cannot afford a hospital bill. I speak for that man and woman managing a small business in Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia, desperate for a capital to enlarge his business but can’t find any. I speak for that my friend with a noble innovative idea frustrated by lack of support for his invention. I speak for that my friend with a PhD roaming the street still unemployed because employment is no longer by merit but by “who you know”. I speak for that poor little boy and little girl schooling in a dilapidated rural community school that has no library or school desk, who is expected to compete with children of politicians schooling in air-conditioned classroom. I speak for that politician who knows that the government he is serving has failed but is afraid to say it lest he lose his only source of survival. I speak for you reading this and wondering how those cherished dreams and aspirations of yours have vanished because the society forbids you from dreaming big. I speak for all men and women of goodwill who believe that Abia State will be great in our time. I believe we can have a government that has the courage and political will to convert our noble aspirations to practical reality. I believe we can recover those innocent dreams of yesterday and make them possibilities of today. This is the political leadership change we need in 2015. We are in the midst of a great historic leadership transition in Abia State- a transition from the old to the young. The ultimate test of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands in times of change and action. The greatness of our state lies in our hands- the young men and women of this generation who have the audacity to believe possibility. Abians, this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the politics of the past. Our time to bring new energy and new possibilities to the challenges we face. Our time to offer a new direction for the state we love. At a time like this silence is a betrayal and doubt cowardice. I ask you to partner with me in this historic quest; share this message with me and spread the good news of possibility with me. For once we have a real promise of hope and possibility for both the rich and the poor; both the young and the old; for both the apolitical and the politician. We will make this change happen in 2015. Support Udo Ahaiwe for Governor Abia State.
