On bikes, Portuguese Paulo Gonçalves surprises and is the winner of Rally dos Sertões Gonçalves, 34, was born in the small town of Esposende, in the District of Braga, north of Portugal. This was his second participation in the race. He won three of nine stages (2, 5, and 9), and the Prologue. He took the lead on the seventh stage, Jalapão, and kept this position until the end. He had a constant rally, always placing top three, except the sixth stage, when he got sixth.
