On demonism and the devil-made-me-do-it-isis: I am always bemused when people in these climes are afraid of other people casting a spell on them or claim that others have bewitched them to do bad things. Whatever happened to Jesus warning that we should pray that we do not fall into temptation? And the fact that the devil whisperer is right there? Urging us to do evil things to each other? There is also that quiet voice telling us to do what is right. We choose. Every time which we will listen to. Sometimes it is totally tough and you may decide to call someone to pray with you so you can do the right thing or you may decide to ignore the quiet voice and do your own thing. Someone hurts me and I am tempted to retaliate OR not - I choose, even in that split moment, I choose; or we meet that really attractive man or woman who is someone elses husband or wife - flee or enjoy it? We choose. If we choose the devils way, we then use our own hands to call them up and use our own tongues to tell lies so we can hook up; or the lying to make ourselves look good or dodge consequences; the envy; the theft; the gossiping; the pride; in short, all the evil residing right there in me versus the good which is also there. Before I say anyone has bewitched or bedevilled me, I need to look inwards. I am realising that I can do all bad by myself... but for God... but for God... Lord have mercy!
