On holidays I visited my parents in Ukrainian village and came to the forest where the remnants of old dugouts of local antifascist partisan unit - still remained. The partisan unit of the village fought almost independently in times of WWII – there were some 50-70 of them. They avoided direct fight with German Wehrmacht but acted mostly against local Nazi collaborators and police forces. Although, the main activity – derailing of trains, bridges and all sorts of communications as well as sabotage actions. However, they had boldness each MayDay to seize one or another nearby village and held MayDay march there under red banners and singing Ukrainian folk songs. Various local partisan units even competed with each other over ‘boldness’ to held MayDay march under Nazi occupation… Something like that: https://youtube/watch?v=nLuzXsHL1uU
