On last 11th January, Sunday, my MPs service centre collaborated with DBKL and Ministry of Health to do a gotong-royong in Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park. The gotong-royong was initiated by health ministry officers as they are concerned with the rise of dengue cases in the whole country, including Klang Valley. According to the Health Ministry, in the year of 2014, there were 106,311 dengue cases throughout the country and 206 people died of dengue cases. In Kuala Lumpur, there were 7,078 dengue cases and 19 have died. On top of that, 1,343 dengue case in Seputeh, Bukit Bintang and Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituencies, We gathered at 8am in front of Paparich coffee shop, but DBKL officers only come at 8.40am with their cleaning tools, such as brooms, dustbin etc...... It is the a first time in my life where we have to wait for municipal councils officers to deliver cleaning tools to us. Sigh.... However, as we walked and picking up rubbish, we then found many discarded utensils containing stagnant water filled with mosquito larvae. I was also surprised to see one of the lots of the food court has been turn into a re-cycled rubbish collection centre that breed Mosquitos. I have never been to this food court and surprised to see it was so run down. DBKL and health officers took note of the situation, they said they will take action on the situation. I am glad to participate the gotong-royong with the residents and DAP members in Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park. It is an eye-opening for me to see how dengue mosquitoes can grow in many neglected utensils and dirty areas. Thanks to all those who volunteer their service to make the gotong-royong a success.
