On last weeks Bottomless Pit I ended up feeling like Id just gotten started with my tribute to drummer Idris Muhammad, since some of my favorite tracks by him are 10-14 minutes long, so this week Im carrying on with more of him. He passed away on 7/29/14. I also played, last week, some remarkable tracks, with incredible musical accompaniment, by spoken word artist David Greenberger. The combination of Davids stuff with Idriss stuff seemed really perfect somehow, so well have more David G. this week too. AND after 4 weeks the show is still on a Victoria Williams binge of indefinite duration. So in other words, this week itll be exactly the same artists as last week; Ill go a little deeper into their superb catalogs. Meanwhile, there were two Stop the Presses! moments in R&R this week that I couldnt act on immediately because Im traveling: the back-to-back deaths of Paul Revere, and of Lou Whitney, Jr. Next week each guy will get half the show.
