On my 26th birthday in 2008 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was removed a few months later; however, my pituitary gland will never work again. The tumor was fortunately not cancerous, which is what 99% of pituitary tumors are. I unfortunately now have a life long disease called panhypopituitarism. Due to this disease, I have to constantly take medication throughout the day. Hiking has been a life saver to me because it has helped me to overcome adversity. I hike in some sort of pain every weekend due to this disease, but I never give up. As I posted on my personal Facebook page last week, I have been able to drop over 100 pounds since I started to hike. For anybody that gives excuses for why they cannot exercise, use this as an example that nothing should be able to hold you back from your goals and that you can live life to the fullest.
