On my campaign trail, Ive had enjoyable and very informative - TopicsExpress

On my campaign trail, Ive had enjoyable and very informative dialogue with hundreds of citizens across Upland. What is most important is that each person in different parts of our City share concerns at their street level, but all agree they want Upland to get better. Last night, I spoke with several people covering a vast array of topics. One that seems to be re-occurring is the perception that donations are made by special interests for favors or by companies or individuals seeking an upper hand on council decisions. I explained the process that each candidate must file a form 460 with our city clerk. It is public information and discloses who made donations to each candidate and what each candidate has spent. The filings go back several years, but it is important to view in depth each contributor and their affiliations. I promised folks once they were available, I would post the link to the City page that lists current and some prior candidates, so here it is. I think it is important to review the candidates that also filed during the month and calendar year 10/1/2012 thru 10/20/2012. This was the previous mayors race, so look at previous donors and those of today. Go to each candidate, click on applicable dates, most current is ending 9/30/2014, and download PDF. Scroll down and you can see all monetary contributions, persons, businesses. Although everything is considered legal, contributions are often perceived as negative and with a quid pro quo stigma. You be the judge. Please dont hesitate to ask me any questions about this, or any other concerns you may have! Bill Schuessler
