On my journey to Victory towards my goal to be the Next Judge of General Sessions Civil Court, Division 2, I know that I Know, that I know and believe without any hesitation, without any doubt, irrespective of anything stated as a fact, there is another fact, my victory is anticipated and is Already Done, Already Provided, I Already Have It. I did not just wake up on my own one day and decide that I wanted to serve the community and serve Shelby county in the position of Judge. No, this idea, this repetitious thought, this divine suggestion was birthed in me long ago. However, God chose the timing and sent a fellow professional to call me and water the seed that was already planted in me, as apparently it was time in my destiny, in my walk in life, to walk in faith and realize the dream. The appointed and set time has come . The VISION, God gave to me when I was still in my mothers womb, apparently long before I started walking and achieving goals at Dunbar Elementary as a honor student, as a honored student at Melrose Junior High School and before I was voted as Editor of the Yearbook when I was bused for 1 year to Richland junior High School. The vision was also long before I was voted Miss Melrose class of 1977, Editor of the Yearbook, Honor Graduate and long before I was selected as Whos Who Among High School Students and graduated with honors. It was long before I entered college at Virginia Union University , on a 4 year scholarship, a scared out of town freshman, yet voted into leadership as Vice President of the Freshman Class and was part of the student body that voiced conditions we felt needed to be addressed and stood in the lawn of the President of the University. It was long before, I consistently won Essay competition for writing composition contests. and later graduated Cum Laude while also touring in the Concert Choir every semester. The dream , vision, idea and divine suggestion of me becoming a Judge was long before, I was nominated for an Oxford Scholarship at the same time, I submitted an essay and won a scholarship to the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, where I lived on the campus all the way from Orange Mound and Melrose High School Community. I wanted to be a Judge long before I was licensed to practice law in 1992 in Pennsylvania, 2009 in Tennessee, 2011 licensed to practice law before all Federal District Courts in Arkansas. The dream to become a Judge was long before I was selected as a Comments Writer on Law Review at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and before I was selected and served as a Judicial Internship for the Chief Judge of the United States Claims Court in Washington DC and later selected as a Judicial Intern for the United States District Court in Houston Texas. The idea of becoming Judge was long before I directed, led and managed College Students as AmeriCorps Director under President Clintons AmeriCorps Project of the Teams for the Olympics, where my group was the only site selected in Tennessee to serve and stay in the sports villages during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta Georgia. The vision to become a Judge was long before I wrote successful Official Defense Position Statements on behalf of the City of Memphis to the United States Equal Employment Commission, Regional Office of Memphis and to the Tennessee Human Rights Commission that consistently resulted in no probable cause findings from filed charges of unlawful and discriminatory employment practices in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended. It was also before I served as a City of Memphis Team Member on the Collective Bargaining Team during Negotiations of the 22 unions of the City. It was before I took training in Negotiations at Georgetown Law School in DC while serving as a Capital Hill Intern and before training at the Latz Institute of Negotiations through CLE offerings of the Memphis Bar Association. The dream of becoming a Judge was before my selection and listing for the last 4 consecutive years as the only African American Attorney Power Player Among Employment and Labor Attorneys by the Memphis Business Quarterly and before being listed as a Woman to Watch a couple of times by Memphis Magazine. Becoming a Judge is a natural desire for a successful lawyer to want to go to the next level and serve the community in the position of Judge. I do not see myself as a politician just because I want to serve at a different level in the legal position. So forgive me as you meet me along my journey and I have a non-marketed expected response or reply on why I want to be Judge. So many people that have been in my life at different times in my walk have come up to me and hugged me and reminded me that I said I wanted to become a Judge and boldly declared that one day, I will be a Judge. Well, the dream, vision , nudges and reminders from people, does NOT contradict, the dream and faith seeds and seeds of greatness planted in me, while I was yet in my mothers womb through my education. Your vote for me during early voting from July 18 through August 2 , 2014 will simply be a part of a dream of a little girl who played and grew up in Orange Mound, a dream realized. Thank you in advance for allowing God to use you. This is why alllllllllllllllll of my Campaign Material boldly states, The F Factor: Faith and Favor of the candidate. My Campaign Slogan of Judging the Case, Not the People, is consistent with my representation for the Citizens of Shelby County as a Plaintiffs Discrimination Attorney when people are unlawfully suspended or terminated from their only means of taking care of their families. It is consistent with my listing on the United States EEOC Attorney Referral Listing in several states including Tennessee. Finally, it is consistent to gladly serving Pro Bono under the Memphis Bar Association and Memphis Area Legal Services Courthouse Attorney of the Day and as a Pro Bono Attorney and as a Pro Se Attorney at the Free Saturday Clinics held at the Benjamin Hooks Public Library . Thank you in advance for your vote. You are part of a bigger picture. I believe 100 % that God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him and that it shall be unto me, according to my faith. You too have seeds of greatness planted inside of you, and the power to believe the written and spoken inspired word of God , no matter what it looks like in the Natural. Humbly and with gratitude, I will serve as your Judge ruling and administering justice where every one will have the opportunity to be heard by a fair and impartial judge that will rule on the facts and evidence presented with respect for and adhering to all of the Code of Judicial Conduct that regulates the ethical behavior of Judges on the bench. I am equally excited that 2014 will likewise reveal your dreams too. Email me and tell me your beautiful dreams, goals and vision at : committeetoelectmhamiltonjudge@gmail . I look forward to reading them. You Matter and your vote is your powerful voice. I respect YOUR POWER. I need your vote. I want your vote. Vote for Myra May Hamilton, your NEXT Judge. I Trust You, the Shelby County Voter. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to serve the community and Shelby county and will do so with your Vote. I pledge to implement the duties inherent in the position of Judge for General Sessions Division 2, as expeditiously as humanly possible in rendering justice in a competent, effective and efficient manner. I fully understand that the voters are entitled to their day in Court with a Judge that will be unbiased, fair and render well reasoned decisions. I further fully understand that as the NEXT Judge with the POWER of your vote, I will have the ultimate responsibility of maintaining and managing courtroom proceedings where all litigants, plaintiffs and defendants will be fully reminded of the expected civility towards one another in the objective presentation of their cases, without giving the appearance of intentionally or willfully asserting any subjective, unsubstantiated and unsupported attacks or assertions of any unwarranted and unnecessary facts designed to impute character assassination of the other litigants character or integrity regardless if it is an Attorney or an unrepresented Pro Se Litigant. As a Successful Employment Discrimination and Labor Attorney , I have countless experience in fully examining evidence on both sides, consistent during employment litigation with conducting discovery of the facts and evidence during representation of matters before filed before various venues including the the United States Federal Sector Hearings in various states including Tennessee. Likewise, my preparation of hearing and reading the position of both sides of litigation started when I listened to arguments in Court and had to read the briefs and research the case law precedent used by Opposing Counsels and I had to write my Recommendation Memorandum to the Chief Judge of the United States Claims Court in Washington DC and before the United States District Court Judge in Houston regarding which way they should rule. Finally, after investigating numerous factual allegations by City Employees, I provided recommendation to City of Memphis Division Directors on filed allegations of unlawful discriminatory employment practices pursuant to the facts and established case law. I am the Only African American Candidate and I am a qualified and experienced Attorney in the race for Division 2. JUDGING THE CASE, NOT THE PERSON.
