On my mind: Consideration for the disabled: For all those who ride Metro - if a disabled person says they need to sit and you are sitting in one of the handicapped accessible seats, GET UP AND LET THEM HAVE YOUR SEAT! Lynn Bush Gills experience on Wednesday follows: Lynn Bush Gill says: Ok I dont like to complain much but that was the worst. Metro. Riding. Day. Ever! Started out by forgetting to look at the elevator outages before I left the house and so walked down & then saw the Dupont elevator was out. Took a cab to the U street metro- very nice cab driver- straight shot - ok that was doable. Then as I was getting to the metro gate on my way home, the yellow line car came. Got through the turnstile & on to the train and all of the handicapped/eldery seats were taken by young to middle- aged able bodied people. I say - ok folks I need to sit down. And nobody gets up. There are other open seats further in the car. Really? Not too hard to tell I am pretty disabled. So I grab the pole with my one functioning hand as the car starts moving. Some nice man helps me sit in the first regular seat by offering his hand. Ok so the seats did not have one of those these seats are reserved for handicapped/eldery passengers signs on them so I did not say anything! Am I wrong? Shouldnt they have gotten up? Then I get to Dupont and my Smart card does not work to get me out. The station master comes over - there is a about 1/8 of an inch small crack forming on one end. Just added $20 yesterday morning. So I had to buy a new card and I will try to switch the funds later! Sigh... Hal, have I told you how much I appreciate you driving me to & from work each day?
