On my way home yesterday, I got caught in two hours of traffic on - TopicsExpress

On my way home yesterday, I got caught in two hours of traffic on the Damascus Highway (Baabda not Sodeco). And it really hit me. Syrians by the thousands, marching up to the embassy so they could vote for their fearless leader. Syrian flags, Hezbollah flags, war songs, the lot. And we were too busy smiling and taking pictures of them. What the hell is wrong with you people? I mean seriously. I respect the fact that Syrians are refugees in our country. I really do. And my heart goes out to every single one of them who has lost a home or a family member. But I cannot sit by and watch while they take over. The Lebanese had to live through 25 years of Syrian occupation. 25 years of being searched and pushed around by a foreigner. 25 years of decisions that were not our own. When 2005 came along, it was a true opportunity to start over. For everyone. Instead, we divided ourselves into alliances, went into a war with Israel, demonstrated on the streets, burned tires, and stopped all economy in the country for the better part of the year. We had another opportunity under Sleiman. And again, we went back to our bickering. And now, in the most politically volatile of environments, weve handed our nation over to refugees and a political party that has a purely warrior mentality. Whats next?
