On my way to pick up Jayce I had the radio on 94.7. They, of course, were discussing #RobinWilliamss death. We all know now, that he was battling deep depression. Anyways, the dj said something that really hit home for me. We talk about people beating cancer but we never talk about people beating depression. (Honestly, it was something along those lines but its definitely true). Its a taboo topic. A lot of people think its something made up. People say those who have been diagnosed should get over it.. It could be worse.. People are going through WAY more than you; be happy. As someone who battled (and beat) depression, those were things I didnt want or need to hear. At one point, I did try taking my life. But when it didnt work, I realized God had bigger plans for me. Please dont take this confession as trying to get attention because thats not what this is about. I was once rock bottom and saw no light at the end of the tunnel. Its a hard place to get out of. But, I had support from family and friends and many years of counseling. For some, there is no other way out. Robin Williams being one. Ive also had two good friends take their lives and I wish they had known that there was a way to make it out of the dark. If you know someone going through this, let them know youre there for them, listen to them and ultimately support them. #suicideawareness #depressionisreal #listen #support Never say goodbye, because goodbye means youre going away. And going away, means forgetting. -Peter Pan I will never forget you two. You guys are on my mind so heavily right now.
