On one hand we have the disgusting torture report, drone strikes, occupations, propping up of ruthless dictators, etc. On the other hand we have the senseless violence perpetrated by groups like TTP, ISIS (IS, ISIL, daesh, or whatever they are going by), Al-Qaeda, and others... horrible atrocities like the Sydney Siege, Peshawar Attack, and others. This is the world we live in, a world of extremes, a world of violence, destruction, and cheapening of human life. Certainly to Allah we belong and to Him we will return. O Allah, we seek refuge in You from grief and sorrow. O Allah, we ask You to calm the hearts of men. O Allah, we ask You to take from their hearts hatred and greed. O Allah, we ask You for relief. O Allah, we ask You to keep us firm upon goodness. O Allah, we ask You to let us recognize truth as truth and give us the ability to follow it. O Allah, we ask You to let us recognize falsehood as falsehood and give us the ability to avoid it. O Allah, You are indeed capable over all matters, O Allah help us. Ameen.
