On open letter to Oncor: My name is Cheryl Hale and I live at XXX X. XXXXX, Tyler, TX 75701. My power went out last night some time before 7:30, and when I left the house at 6:00 this morning (because I was so hot I couldnt stand it any more), it was still off. There was no storm, no multiple outages, and yet over 12 hours later, in the heat of a Texas summer, there still is no power. At first we were told it would be back on at 10:00 last night, then no time estimate could be given, then 6:00 a.m., then no time given. My neighbors across the street never lost power. My neighbor to the west never lost power. Every time the wind blows my block, or grid if you will, loses power and the reason given is always the same...equipment failure. Since this is a known issue, why cant our equipment be upgraded to the same level that everybody else in my neighborhood is provided? I spent a horrible, sleepless night in a hot house, and this is the second time in as many months! Last time it took well over 24 hours, and it looks like that could be repeated this time! I feel like my particular block is being singled out as not important enough to upgrade. I have no idea why that is...Im assuming we pay our bills like everybody else, so why are we subject to such inferior service? Im still remembering the big ice storm we had some 10 years ago when my grid was without power for 10 days, yet my across the street neighbors had power restored after 3. Please explain to me why my area is so prone to these outages, why Oncor is so unwilling to be proactive in preventing them, and why it is taking so long to correct the problem once it is reported. Hot in Tyler, Cheryl Hale
