On pg 360, under 10.3: Lewis Structures, it says, in the third paragraph, ...C atom has eight valence electrons...consistent with a full n = 2 valence shell. And each H atom has two valence electrons, corresponding with a full n = 1 valence shell. For some reason this isnt making sense to me right now. What do they mean by n = 2 and n = 1? does it have to do with the quantum number n? Any clarification is appreciated, thanks~
