On scheduled workout days as time goes on, it is harder and harder to get going. No question, I require more KITA motivation (kick in the ass) than ever before. I have to work out twice as hard to stay in half the shape. The temptation of a Wendys Pretzel cheeseburger, fries and shake is strong at times. The thing that shocks me back to reality though is just thinking back a few years to the shape I was in when I got my wakeup call with major surgery and time in the critical care unit. I have no doubt if I hadnt changed my ways, I probably wouldnt be writing this today. The total change of diet was a big adjustment but I really like what I eat now. The exercise, challenging as it is sometimes, has paid off. I just completed the UW Fitness Age Test and was pleased to learn that chronologically while I am nearly 68, my fitness age is 41.2 years. With all the normal stresses and other things you deal with, sometimes you just have to remember life is nothing more than a series of choices. When it comes to health, the choices you make definitely can affect the quality of your life. The other way is easier, but Ill stick with the new since I can actually see the results.
