On shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7th, members of Engine 14 were standing outside their station house. It was shift-change. They noticed smoke coming from a nearby block. Before the fire had been dispatched, Engine 14 drove to the 1700 block of Lemmon Street to investigate. They found a vacant row home with smoke and fire visible on all three floors. Engine 14 immediately went to work suppressing the fire. Other units were dispatched to the scene to assist and eventually put the fire under control. The quick-thinking of members of Engine 14 prevented the fire from spreading to other dwellings on the street and possibly causing harm to residents or firefighters. Other units on the scene were Engine 36, Engine 8, Engine 55, Engine 23, Truck 10, Truck 8, Rescue 1, Medic 21, and Battalion Chiefs 3 and 6. youtube/watch?v=lfBX6SEmYZY&feature=youtu.be
