On sunday the 15th, Elpida Shelter is four years old, that is from when out angel first started this, and had a fight of her own, without any help at all. Then one day almost two years ago, Elaine Wiesner-Rohr made us aware that this woman, was really struggeling alone in a poor shelter, with nothing to help herself with. And we rushed to her aid, with food and houses to make life easier. One day Malin asked our angel if she should make a page for Elpida Shelter of Hope, and our angel said if you think it will help, please do. And from there a new chapter in our life started. It was work 24/7 the first months to make the page get up and running, trying to make you our friends aware of this angel, and trying to help the dogs to a better life. It has been fun, it has been tears on the way, and it has been a lot of love, trying to make a difference. The first dogs that left for England already two months after we started was Silva and Dragon, and then our our lovly "ratpack", it was wonderful to see them leave, knowing they would find a good life, and on the way, we admins has fallen in love with our own dogs, and braught them home, we could never have been without them. Doing this kind of work, is very tough, and it were you out from time to time, knowing all the suffering these innocent creatures has to go through, and sometimes you need a brake, but for the love of the whole group, it always pull you back. And you sometimes wonder, what will my life be like without this, sometimes you think it would be great not to have these kind of worries anymore, but on the other hand, once you know about all this suffering, it is hard to turn away. And the friendship we have built up in almost two years, is very pressious to all of us. And we have the best helpers around the world, that anyone can ever have. The last two months 40 dogs have left the shelter and it is an amazing achievment, we could not be happier. We wish we could send them all out in one go, just to make this stop, but that is more of a dream, suffering will go on till people open their eyes, and look at themselves in the mirror. All humanbeings are responsable for their own actions, and no one can turn away for ever, karma is a part of life. 111 dogs are now free, and happy, and hope that more will leave before winter arrives. Summer or winter, the shelter is not a good place for any dog to stay. The invironment is very harsch, they are sort of safe, but only a bit more than on the street. These are dogs that has been fighting for their life on the street, and any new dog that arrive, may cause fights between them, even dogs who has stayed there for a while, does not axcept eachother, so it is a puzzle to avoid that. Taking photos on a sunny day, does not tell the thruth, does not tell about the heat, mosquitos, flies and rats, and the winter it is all about rain, snow, rats and cold weat dogs. All the time it is a struggle to keep them healhty. We can not say it often enough, if you ever want a very special dog in your life, this is where you find them. Our angel has made them so special, and any of them, can go straight to any home, they are loving sweet dogs, hard to understand sometimes they come from the street. Thank you everone who has followed us this time, helping us all the way through this, you will always be appreciated, you will never fully understand how much you have done for the dogs and our angel. She said a new world opened up to her, and that she never knew there was so many wonderful people around the world.
