On thankfulness: To all the people in the past two weeks who have taken time out of their day to listen to me talk; to all the classmates who have stopped to learn about the friend who meant so much to me; to everyone who has given me a leg to stand on or a shoulder to cry on; to all the folks who have accepted part of my burden; to the professors who have been so understanding; to the administrators who have pulled me aside to see how I was holding up; to the law school moms who have cried with me; to the congregation at my church who has been thinking about a boy theyve never met; to the girls who brought me flowers; to the boy who guarded the door when he saw me breaking cool and blinking tears in the bathroom; to the old friends who have called to say they love me; to the new friends who have called to say they love me; to my family who has held me more closely than ever; to his family who has embraced me as one of their own; for thoughtfulness, kindness, empathy, and compassion. Thank you. The girl sitting next to me in Evidence said it best: You are loved, Jake. You are loved. Thank you.
