On the 10th Day of Alternative Christmas my true love gave to me: the power and gratitude of Litha. I woke up at dawn this morning with the cat alarm clock. As I lit the first flame of today, I thanked the the Earth and the Masculine Divine for all I have. Today, the December solstice, is a time when we can literally feel the fullness of the bounty of this side of the planet weaving with us. It is pounding, fruition energy! It is the ripeness. It is the fecundity. It is the sheer vitality. All of this and more, we have to delve into today if we wish. On a sparkling day like today, as I watched the rose gold of the rising sun turn into the rich glowing gold flooding the cliffs right now, I cannot be moved more to be grateful for all I have. No matter how tough things may or may not be for us, on a day like this its worth remembering that you are alive (a miracle), that you have choices (yes, you do), you have enough to eat and that you live in a country where peace and personal safety is not something you regularly have to really wake up and worry about like in so very many places in the world. More likely you have many other things to be grateful for: friends, family, useful work, a home, animal companions, a garden... So, on this day of the Gods most intense solar power, I offer you the happiness of Litha and the transforming nature of gratitude, all wrapped up in a flashing set of lights (solar powered of course).Enjoy!
