On the 30 October 2011 I read his story in The Observer, while travelling by the tube. The story left me speachless as he was doing what I have always wanted to do but things went terribly wrong - he stepped on IED (improvised explosive device). Since then I was reading every little thing that was published but then all went quiet. Earlier this year I was asked if I have had a hero or someone whom I would really like to meet and immediately thought of the guy. A few days later, by mere accident, I saw a documentary on Channel 4 "Walking Wounded". Again, was moved to the bone and decided to do something about it. From the documentary I learned about Emergency and straight away contacted Emergency-uk London. The same week sent some emails, went for a meeting, offered myself and my camera in order to raise awareness. A few weeks after that, I met the guy and was honoured to document his exhibition. Earlier today met him again and the founder of Emergency, Gino Strada. Fingers crossed - later this month I will have a pleasure to interview him... Giles Duley, you inspire so much and so many of us - thank you xx
