On the Death of Molly Dear Dave and Family, Mollie would kill to save her family. She was not always absolutely sure about many things, but she loved and adored her family and asserted what she thought was right. She and Dave had some of their daughters baptized into the Christian church by me at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in San Francisco. She introduced me to her brother Geer Morton, a painter, requesting Geer and some of his artist friends have an art show in the church in the mid 1960s. We had the show and it was wonderful. Geer and I became close friends after that. For that I have always been deeply grateful to Molly. Molly became one of the first woman managers of a Bank of America branch. She knew her business. She and Dave organized trips to Echo Summit for skiing. One time after a day on the slopes we all piled into cars and drove a dozen miles to the Echo Summit Lodge. Mollie hollered, “Where’s Sarah?” We had forgotten her. Dave and I hurled ourselves into a car and race back to the slopes finding tiny 6-year-old Sarah slogging herself back toward the lodge along the highway. We picked her up with tears of relief and regret. Molly served on the vestry of St. Aidan’s Church. She was a wise counselor and financial advisor. A few years later the Evans family moved to Palo Alto. Molly and Dave suggested that I perform the wedding ceremonies for three of the four Evans young women and their husbands and I was honored to do so. The weddings were held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, Jennifer, Andrea, Jessica but I think I missed Sarah. The Evans, Carole and Fred Banister, old St. Aidan’s friends, joined Ann and me for dinner in San Francisco a number of years ago. That was the last time I saw Molly. She was lively, vivacious, and thoughtful with a big open-mouthed laugh. That is how I remember Molly Evans. With sadness and love, Robert
