On the Paris horror today: Murder or condemnation of humorous persons by those humourless persons who take their slant on existence much too seriously has always been a most inane yet tragic aspect of world religion and the self-important. The jester must jest because the inanity and self-importance are just too much. But the inane and self-important never stop being such. Instead they take offense and seek punishment for the perceived crimes against self, position and belief. We will always have jesters. Hail to them, the historical check on all things excessive and repressive.
